One type of ink-jet print head involves ~piezoelectric~ elements in the nozzles. When an electric charge is sent to the nozzle, the piezoelectric element expands. The expanding element squeezes ink out of the nozzle and onto the paper in a spray of tiny droplets. The escaping drops cause ink to be drawn from a collapsible bladder, refilling the nozzles.
